Exclusive: Jason Statham shows his softer side in Hummingbird trailer

Who’d have thought it: The Stath and a nun...

Jason Statham shows off acting chops in the intriguing first trailer for Brit thriller ‘Hummingbird’. Alright, there’s still gravel-voice ass-kicking, but there’s also a nun.

Give it a watch above, and keep an eye out for confusingly long-haired Stath. It goes against everything we know!

‘Hummingbird’ is the directorial debut from ‘Dirty Pretty Things’ and ‘Eastern Promises’ screenwriter, Steven Knight.

Jason stars as Joey Jones, an ex-special forces soldier who winds up homeless after going on the run from a court marshal. Joey then steals another man’s identity and befriends said nun, played by Agata Buzek.

Pretty soon though the Brit hardman is back to his old tricks, busting chops when his new-found love is wronged. But there’s also some distinctly un-Stath stuff going on here: holding hands, charity, even crying.

We’re actually rather looking forward to seeing Statham take on a more dramatic role in ‘Hummingbird’, which is out in the UK on 17 May 2013.
