Guy Ritchie to adapt Empire State Building romance
Guy Ritchie Robert Downey Jr
As if Guy Ritchie doesn’t have enough on his plate already, it appears he’s set to adapt Thomas Kelly novel ‘Empire Rising’ for Warner Bros as well.
Despite a title that suggests something grander in scale, ‘Empire Rising’ is in fact about a love triangle set against the construction of New York’s Empire State Building.
Ritchie is currently entering pre-production on ‘The Man from U.N.C.L.E.’ starring Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer. He is also expected to make a follow-up to 2011’s ‘Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows’ in the coming years as well.
Ritchie was also rumoured to be directing a new adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s ‘Treasure Island’.
Author Thomas Kelly will adapt his own work for the big screen with Ritchie currently on-board as producer alongside his ‘Sherlock Holmes’ partner Lionel Wigram.
Set against the construction of the then-largest building in the world, ‘Empire Rising’ is about a triangle between artist Grace Masterso, steelworker Michael Briody and the Mayor’s bag man Johnny Farell.
The book also features a number of historical figures.
