Catwoman actress follows Bale and Nolan in tribute

Batman star Anne Hathaway has released a statement telling of her 'heartbreak' over the shootings at the 'Dark Knight Rises' screening in Denver on Friday.

“My heart aches and breaks for the lives taken and altered by this unfathomably senseless act,” she said.

“I am at a loss for words how to express my sorrow. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.”

It follows Christian Bale revealing his 'horror' over the incident and director Christopher Nolan adding: “The movie theatre is my home and the idea that someone would violate that innocent and hopeful place in such an unbearably savage way is devastating to me.”

12 were killed and 58 injured when a gunman entered the Theatre 16 cinema at the Aurora Mall and opened fire.

The premieres planned for Japan and Mexico have also now been cancelled out of respect for the families of the victims.

The man suspected of the shootings, James Holmes, is in police custody.
