Hitman to be rebooted with Paul Walker

Yahoo UK Movies News
The movie adaptation of video game 'Hitman' is to be rebooted by Fox, with 'The Fast and the Furious' star Paul Walker.

Though the first film only emerged in 2007, with 'Justified' star Timothy Olyphant playing the bald assassin, newly-titled 'Agent 47' will start shooting in Berlin and Singapore in the summer.

It will be written by Mike Finch and Skip Woods, Woods having already penned the first 'Hitman' film.

The original was only a moderate financial success – making $100 million ($63.8 million) on a $24 million (£15.3 million) budget – but was mauled by critics.

Since its release, Olyphant admitted that he only took the role of the titular hitman because the hit series 'Deadwood', in which he starred, was cancelled and he had just bought a house.

It also starred Dougray Scott and former Bond girl Olga Kurylenko.

The new version will be directed by newcomer Aleksander Bach.

The game series, which centres around a genetically enhanced clone hitman, has extended to five titles so far, and even spawned a tie-in novel.
