The role comes just days after Corden picked up a prestigious Tony Award for his performance in 'One Man, Two Guvnors' on Broadway.

Former phone salesman Paul Potts stunned the nation, and more importantly Simon Cowell, when he took to the stage during the first series of 'Britain's Got Talent' in 2007 and won the show with his opera singing skills.

Corden has been working on the script with director David Frankel, who previously made the Meryl Streep movie 'The Devil Wears Prada'.

Über-producer Harvey Weinstein told the Daily Mail what he thinks makes Corden such a talent.

“James is a brilliant actor and a wonderful comedian and we're excited to be working with him - and David [Frankel] - on this inspiring true story. Hot off James' Tony win, we can't wait to get started.”

James Corden is expected to start filming the Paul Potts movie in October.

Further, as yet unconfirmed rumours, suggest that Katy Perry is in talks to play the role of Potts' wife.
