'Guardians of the Galaxy' director James Gunn has confronted some of casting rumours that are currently circulating regarding the upcoming Marvel epic.

Currently, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Benicio del Toro, and Bradley Cooper are among the stars that have been confirmed for the film, while Vin Diesel, Sean Gunn, Stephen Blakehart, and Steve Agee have been heavily linked to join the ensemble too. has reported that the 'Slither' filmmaker has now addressed these rumours, even confirming that various websites guesses have been way off the mark.

Gunn teased, "IMDB is not always correct. Even right now I believe it contains misinformation. A complete cast list will not be released until closer before release- and we are not currently releasing a list of all the characters in the film."

The filmmaker then took this opportunity to confirm some of his casting decisions. "That said," he started, "Stephen Blackehart and my brother Sean are in the film but my good friend Steve Agee is unfortunately not. Although he would make a great Thanos (not really)."

Gunn then revealed, "In fact, despite the rumours, Steve Agee did not even audition for the film. Besides my brother and Gregg Henry, and a couple of others, we pretty much cast all of the supporting roles out of England."

He then concluded, "There's a lot of take there, so it wasn't hard! I love working with Steve, though - he's a great friend and an incredibly funny guy."

'Guardians of the Galaxy' will be released on August 1, 2014.
