Kathleen Kennedy confirms Adam Driver for Star Wars VII?

Kathleen Kennedy confirms Adam Driver for Star Wars VII?Kathleen Kennedy confirms Adam Driver for Star Wars VII?

After reports that Adam Driver would take a villainous role in 'Star Wars VII', it looks as though Kathleen Kennedy's production company may have confirmed the rumours.

It's one of the biggest 'Star Wars' rumours we've seen so far - that Adam Driver has signed up as the main villain of 'Star Wars: Episode VII'. But is there any truth to it? Although the usually reliable Variety seem to think so, there's been no official confirmation since the news broke… but has Kathleen Kennedy hinted that there may be more to it? It looks as though her production company certainly seems to think so.

Since the news broke of Adam Driver's rumoured involvement with 'Star Wars VII' it's been reported far and wide… but there's still not been a single statement from Disney or Lucasfilm when it comes to their latest talent.

But it looks as though the folks at The Kennedy/Marshall Company might have acknowledged Driver's involvement… tweeting about the original rumour with the hashtag "#darthfader".

The Kennedy/Marshall Company is run (in part) by Lucasfilm boss, Kathleen Kennedy… and it's easy to see how she might be clued up when it comes to 'Star Wars VII' casting.

Of course, this is hardly an official confirmation… but it's probably as close as we're going to get for the time being. And let's face it - they're not the first industry insiders to tweet about Adam Driver's 'Star Wars VII' role.

American filmmaker and creator of 'Girls' Lena Dunham was quick to congratulate Adam Driver on landing his 'Star Wars' role… but soon clarified that she's about as clued up as the rest of us. Although I'm not entirely sure I buy it.

We're VERY proud of Adam Driver re: Star Wars. He's about to rip a hole in da force. Is that a thing? I guess I should see those movies?

"I confirm nothing," she added. "I know nothing bc I'm on a plane with my dad! I just like Adam more than almost anyone, and JJ Abrams a whole lot too."

Of course, while none of these tweets indicates an official confirmation, it certainly looks as though Variety may have hit the nail on the head with their incredible casting rumour. And as we get closer to production (due to begin as early as May this year) it looks as though the final casting decisions may have already been made.

Does this mean that Adam Driver will be the next 'Star Wars' villain? What about Jesse Plemons as the next generation of Jedi? For now, we'll have to wait and see.
