Mendes to direct second Bond film?

Yahoo UK Movies News
Sam Mendes is reportedly '75 per cent' likely to direct the next Bond film.

The director, who with 'Skyfall' has helmed the most successful British film of all time, was thought to be reluctant to return as the next two Bond films were being planned back-to-back, making it a four year project.

But now it's thought that Bond 24 and 25 will be stand-alone films instead, meaning that Mendes is more likely to sign up, according to Bond authority Baz Bamigboye at the Daily Mail.

It's also said that he is keen on the rough sketch of the next film, but needs to see the finished script before committing.

The production for the next film could begin later this year, but Mendes is currently tied up with theatre projects.

He is directing 'King Lear' for the National Theatre, set to premiere in January, and also a musical version of 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' which is due in May at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane.

'Skyfall' took the Bafta for Best British Film last week, while Coen Brothers regular Roger Deakins scooped the outstanding achievement award from the American Society of Cinematographers in Los Angeles.
