New pictures of Toby Jones as Hitchcock

Actor joins Sir Anthony Hopkins in playing the legendary director

New pictures of actor Toby Jones playing director Alfred Hitchcock have been unveiled.

In an uncanny transformation, Jones will play Hitchcock in 'The Girl', an HBO film which will look at the director's near-obsessive relationship with actress Tippi Hedren, who played his lead in 'The Birds'.

Playing Hedren is Brit actress Sienna Miller, while Imelda Staunton will play Hitchcock's wife Alma and Penelope Wilton as Peggy Robertson, his long-time assistant.

It's due out in October and is the second film in production to portray Hitchcock, with Sir Anthony Hopkins also donning some high-waisted trousers to play the legendary director.

Hopkins will star in 'Hitchcock', based on the making of 'Psycho' and directed by Sacha Gervasi, who filmed brilliant rock biopic 'Anvil! The Story of Anvil'.

Helen Mirren will play Alma in that production, while Scarlett Johansson stars as 'Psycho' star Janet Leigh, alongside excellent support from Jessica Biel, Danny Huston, Toni Collette and Ralph Macchio.

It is planned for a 2013 release.

It's not the first time that Toby Jones has gone up against another actor playing the same role in a rival production.

In 2006, he played Truman Capote in 'Infamous', while Philip Seymour Hoffman played the writer in 'Capote'. Critics were split on who played the role better, but 'Capote' picked up the major awards.
