Paul Walker's brother to complete his Fast & Furious 7 role?

Cody Walker has been asked to act as a double for his brother.

Reports suggest that Paul Walker's younger brother has been recruited to help Universal Pictures complete the actor's work on the seventh film in the Fast and Furious franchise.

Walker was on a break from filming Fast & Furious 7 when he was tragically killed in a car crash last month. Following the accident, the studio shut down production, allowing the cast and crew the opportunity to mourn and grieve for their friend.

But now it seems they're preparing to complete work on the movie - and are in need of some help.

Cody Walker, 25, who has worked as a stuntman and looks reminiscent of his brother has been asked to act as a double.

A source told the MailOnline: "Producers had a string of meetings right after Paul's death.

"They soon realised they needed someone who looked like Paul to finish the movie and that's when they approached his nearly identical brother, Cody.

"They can shoot Cody from behind and at distance and if it's a shot they need Paul's face in close up they can CGI it later on.

"If Cody agrees it's because he wants to honour his brother's memory. There are many details that still need to be worked out, but right now the family and cast and crew are all still grieving."

If the latest script rewrite by Chris Morgan is approved by the studio, production could restart in early January. Universal have promised to work with the Walker family and ensure that the film provides a fitting exit for Paul's character, Brian O'Connor.

A spokesman for the studio told MailOnline: "Right now, all of us at Universal are dedicated to providing support to Paul's immediate family and our extended Fast & Furious family of cast, crew and filmmakers.

"At this time we feel it is our responsibility to shut down production on Fast & Furious 7 for a period of time so we can assess all options available to move forward with the franchise.  We are committed to keeping Fast & Furious fans informed, and we will provide further information to them when we have it.  Until then, we know they join us in mourning the passing of our dear friend Paul Walker."

Walker's funeral is due to be held this weekend in California.
