Pixar hides 'easter eggs' in new film

Nods to past films appear in Scots saga 'Brave'

The animators at Pixar have continued a fine tradition of hiding references to their old films in their latest feature 'Brave'.

One in particular makes for a particularly bold move, considering the era in which the film is set.

In a scene in a witch's hut, she is seen carving a bear from wood, but on closer inspection, she also has a wooden carved version of the Pizza Planet delivery truck from 'Toy Story' on her bench.

Then later in the same house, we can see a carved likeness of John Goodman's character Sully from 'Monsters Inc' on a piece of wood.

The film, featuring the voices of Kelly Macdonald, Billy Connolly and Robbie Coltrane, is released on August 17 in the UK.

There are hundreds of so-called 'easter eggs' to be found in Pixar's back catalogue, cross referencing the studio's films.

One frequently used is the code 'A113', a reference to a room at California Institute of the Arts where directors John Lasseter and Brad Bird went to college, with variations of it in many of the Pixar films.

Characters from other films also often appear fleetingly in many of the studio's finished projects.
