Raimi to direct remake of Poltergeist?

The revered director has long been in a producer's role for the film, but it's now thought that he'll be directing too.

Screenwriter David Lindsay-Abaire, the Pulitzer Prize-winner who has been drafted in to write the new screenplay, is the one who reckons Raimi is most certainly set for the director's chair.
Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter, Lindsay-Abaire confirmed that Raimi was directing, but was not directly quoted.
Later, the writer of the piece, reporter Scott Feinberg, tweeted: “Lindsay-Abaire told me that Raimi was directing it. I’m very confident that that’s what he said.”
There's no confirmation from the studio as yet, but Raimi is currently finishing his 'Wizard of Oz' prequel 'Oz the Great and Powerful' for Disney.
Concern among fans over how the original Tobe Hooper-directed supernatural thriller may be reinterpreted may be eased by the news that the reboot is in Raimi's hands.
It follows the news that his own classic 'The Evil Dead' is being remade by director Fede Alvarez, with both Raimi and the film's original star Bruce Campbell having given their stamp of approval and appearing in producer's roles.
