Schwarzenegger: Guns in films are 'entertainment'

Arnold Schwarzenegger has dismissed the link between on-screen violence and real life.

The action movie legend was quizzed about his thoughts after making his latest feature, The Last Stand, which features the extensive use of weaponry, in light of the December  shootings in Newtown, Connecticut.

Speaking to press in Beverley Hills while promoting his big screen return after eight years, Schwarzenegger said, “I think one must always keep it separate. This is entertainment and the other thing is a tragedy beyond belief and serious and the real deal."

The Last Stand, directed by South Korea's Jee-Woon Kim and costarring Johnny Knoxville, includes scenes of Schwarzenegger - a supporter of the Second Amendment - firing a gun from a school bus.

However  the Terminator star also stated that he wants to see any gun law loopholes closed, saying, “Whenever there’s a tragedy like that it would be foolish not to look into all ways of what we can do as a society to improve the situation and to reduce the risk of those kind of issues. How can we do better with gun laws? If there is any loophole, if there’s a problem there, let’s analyze it.”
