See the sad state of Ghostbusters car Ecto-1a
There have been many iconic movie cars.
James Bond's Lotus Esprit or the DB5, Herbie, Steve McQueen's Mustang from 'Bullit' or the time-travelling DeLorean from 'Back To The Future'.
But one iconic movie car is not in a good way – the 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor ambulance from the 'Ghostbusters' movies.
In fact, it is being left to rot at Sony's prop house lot in Culver City, Hollywood.
Now a group of fans is hoping that through a petition it can persuade Sony Pictures Entertainment to sell the Ecto-1a – the model used in 'Ghostbusters 2' – for its scrap value and restore it to its former glory.

A petition has now gone up online. The plea reads:
Ghostbusters Fans would like to ask Sony Pictures to sell us the 1959 Cadillac used for the Ecto-1a (along with all original 'Ecto' parts) at the current scrap value.
With the car in our hands, we would then be able to give her the restoration to screen used quality that she deserves. We have started this campaign to garner names in support by those who would like to see the restoration occur.
We need to have the full support of everyone in the Ghostbusters Community behind us, this will be crucial in order for us to fund a proper and complete restoration of the Ecto-1a back to the condition she was seen on the silver screen in 1989.
Sign this petition if you would like to see the Ecto-1a restored, and let us know if you would be willing to donate to the project. Let's show Sony Pictures how serious we are, and that we have what it would take to get it done!
The first Ecto-1, from the original 'Ghostbusters', was renovated in 2007, and the same was planned for Ecto-1a, but the restoration never got underway.
At the time of writing, the petition has 3000 signatures. You can join the campaign here...
