What ever happened to the kids from Mrs Doutbfire?
We check in on the Hillard children 20 years after the Robin Williams comedy hit the big screen.
It's been a thought-provoking 20 years since Robin Williams climbed into a pair of spanks, strapped on some massive prosthetic bosoms and adopted the worst Scottish accent since Sean Connery's Irish one in 'The Untouchables' for the cross-dressing nanny movie. We all know where Mssrs Williams and Brosnan – not to mention Sally Field – ended up, but what about those kids everyone was fighting over?
Lisa Jakub – Lydia Hillard
Lisa Jakub played Lydia, the eldest of the Hillard children. She was mobbed with TV work after 'Mrs Doubtfire', and landed a solid supporting role in 'Independence Day' in 1996. But on the TV is where she pretty much stayed after that, in a rash of made-for-telly movies. She quit acting in 2000, after appearing in 'Double Frame', a thriller with the lesser-known Baldwin brother Daniel.
She emerged with a website and blog a few years back and explained her exit from the business. “I decided I should leave, before I became one of those alcoholic/eating disorder ravaged/drug addicted train wrecks of a former child actor. I had no desire to be a cautionary tale,” she said. She often takes apart fictional accounts from 'where are they now'-type articles written about her.
These days, she writes (for the Huffington Post and others), is editing her first book, and describes herself as 'a traveler, a devoted yogi, wife and dog-mom. I also make really good spinach gnocchi.

Matthew Lawrence – Chris Hillard
Matthew Lawrence played bushy-haired, bushy eye-browed teen Chris Hillard, the young man of the house. He is the brother of Joey Lawrence, he of 90s TV series 'Blossom' fame, so acting was clearly running in the family.
He continued acting, but other than the long-running role of Jack in 'Boy Meets World', not with quite the same level of profile. He can be spotted in Rob Schneider stinker 'The Hot Chick', episodes of 'Boston Public' and CSI: Miami', and most recently, kids flick 'The Dog Who Saved Easter', alongside former Superman, Dean Cain.

Mara Wilson – Natalie Hillard
She was the heart-melting, cute-as-a-button Natalie, all milk teeth and precociousness. 'Mrs Doubtfire' was her big screen debut, but she went on to scoop roles in 'Miracle on 34th Street' and the big screen adaptation of Roald Dahl's 'Matilda', playing the lead role really rather well, particularly as she shared a screen with diminutive powerhouses Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman. These days she's turned writer, penning articles for websites like Cracked (where she has discussed being a child star), blogs at Marawilsonwritesstuff.com, and has an impressive 67,000-plus following on Twitter. Her first play, Sheeple, about a group of young people struggling with the burdens of being a modern teenager, debuted in New York over the summer.
