Second Star Wars Spin-Off To Be About Han Solo & Boba Fett's Rivalry?

A new rumour is claiming that the second ‘Star Wars’ anthology spin-off will focus on the rivalry between Han Solo and  Boba Fett.

Other familiar faces from the original trilogy are also said to appear in the film, which was once set to be directed by 'Chronicle’ and 'The Fantastic Four’s Josh Trank - who departed the project in May.

This latest rumour regarding LucasFilm’s spin-off movies comes from Schmoes Knows, who have been hit and miss with reports before, so take it with a pinch of salt. They cite a source reiterating previous reports that the film will focus on the iconic smuggler and the galaxy’s most badass bounty hunter.

The source claims the film will take place between 'Revenge of the Sith’ and 'A New Hope’ - same as Gareth Edwards’ first spin-off 'Star Wars: Rogue One’ and will also feature appearances from Chewbacca, Landa Calrissian and Bossk, another fan-favourite bounty hunter from the original films.

Apparently they also claim that this film will be driven by LucasFilm and Disney’s desire to delve into the “hive of scum and villainy” aspect to 'Star Wars’ referred to by Alec Guinness’s Obi-Wan Kenobi in the original film.

Han Solo and Boba Fett have long been favourites to star in their own spin-off movies as they are the most obvious and fan-pleasing candidates. That said Disney clearly aren’t afraid to tell new stories with new characters. 'Rogue One’ won’t focus on one particular famous character but instead the effort to steal the first Death Star’s plans - leading to the events of 'A New Hope’.

'Star Wars: Rogue One’ is set for release on 16 December 2016. The next spin-off will follow in 2018.
