Daniel Craig Paid MILLIONS Just To Hold A Phone In Skyfall

Daniel Craig was reportedly paid $5 million – about £3.3 million – just for holding a Sony mobile phone in ‘Skyfall’, it has emerged.

Found among the hacked emails from Sony, now being hosted by WikiLeaks, is one message to Sony’s top brass, including Amy Pascal and Michael Lynton, about including the new Sony Z4 phone in the forthcoming 'SPECTRE’.

The message details some of the previous financial arrangements between Eon and Sony – where Bond was seen using the Xperia mobile in 'Skyfall’.

In the movie, Bond receives a text message about the arrival of his enemy’s flight in Shanghai.

Among various figures for the placement of the Xperia is the figure of $5 million as a fee for Craig.

However, the new details, which appear to be arranging placement for 'SPECTRE’, propose cutting out Craig from a placement fee.

It suggests instead handing over a $4 million (£2.7 million) to Bond boss Barbara Broccoli, then potentially bringing in Q, played by Ben Whishaw, for a lesser fee.

“What if we take the Daniel Craig fee and convince Sony just to pay Barbara directly 4MM for a placement fee,” it reads.

“NO Daniel this time. We walk from him. The remaining 1MM (or LESS!) of this budget can be used to hire “Q” instead?

“Her fee would have to include the right for Sony to use the 007 marks including the barrel, but no Daniel.”

So far Sony has not commented on the matter, but product placement has become hugely noticeable in recent Bond movies, with 'Skyfall’ breaking all previous records by pulling in $45 million (£30 million) in endorsements.

It included mention of Volkswagen Beetles in the script, as well as shots of Sony Vaio computers, Macallan whisky (also mentioned in the script – though Macallan are said not to have asked to be in the movie, nor paid for placement), Heineken and, of course, Aston Martin.

As well as Sony, SPECTRE has already confirmed tie-ins with Jaguar Land Rover, Belvedere Vodka, Bollinger, Aston Martin and Omega.
