Spider-Man Will Probably Either Be Asa Butterfield Or Tom Holland

Marvel fans who waited for Spider-Man to appear at some point in ‘Avengers: Age Of Ultron’ can console themselves with the revelation that the next Peter Parker is probably going to be either Asa Butterfield or Tom Holland.

Marvel and Sony have reportedly decided that the two actors, who are both 18-years-old and English, are now the final candidates for the superhero role.

Devin Faraci of Bad Ass Digest took to his Twitter account to allege that Marvel are now trying to decide between the aforementioned duo. Faraci wrote, “The final two contenders for Spider-Man are Asa Butterfield and Tom Holland, I am hearing. It was down to 2 last week.”

This revelation is inline with what’s been coming out of Marvel ever since their deal with Sony to reboot Spider-Man within the confines of their Cinematic Universe was announced earlier this year.

But who is more likely to get the part? Well it’s hard to really say. Butterfield has the more enhanced CV having starred in 2008’s The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas, Martin Scorsese’s Hugo and the 2013 blockbuster Ender’s Game.

However Holland has also honed his craft in the likes of 2012’s The Impossible while he will have a starring role opposite Thor himself Chris Hemsworth in Ron Howard’s In The Heart Of The Sea too.

Plus, by this point, Marvel clearly adore both of these actors for varying reasons and they’re just trying to find a minute detail that will set one apart from the other. Expect a final decision to be announced within a few weeks.

Spider-Man is probably going to make his Marvel debut in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, while his latest solo film will follow on July 28, 2017.
