Star Trek: The Next Generation fans are currently living their best lives, with Amazon Prime’s Star Trek: Picard resuming the story of the beloved iconic show which ended in 1994.

The big budget streaming show has already brought Sir Patrick Stewart’s Jean-Luc Picard, Brent Spiner’s Data, Jonathan Frakes’ William Riker and Marina Sirtis’ Deanna Troi back to our screens. And now thanks to Isa Briones, one of the leads in Picard, a couple more iconic cast members have returned for a Trek reunion made in the stars.

Following the release of ‘Nepenthe’, the seventh episode of Picard, Briones shared a photo that showed LeVar Burton and Michael Dorn on the set of Picard, with their former The Next Generation cast mates Stewart, Frakes, and Sirtis.

Burton played visored Starfleet engineer Geordi LaForge and Dorn was Klingon Starfleet office Worf in the show that continued on film until 2002’s Star Trek: Nemesis.

With 282 on-screen appearances, Dorn has the most appearances of any actor in the Star Trek franchise thanks to his starring role in The Next Generation, a role he reprised in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. He also appeared in 1991’s Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country as an antecedent of Worf.

Fans hope the photos tease the return of both characters in Picard, which will end its first 10-episode season at the end of March. Whoopi Goldberg looks set to join the series in S2, returning as Guinan.

Talking to Yahoo earlier this year about bringing back beloved TNG characters to the show, Picard exec producer Akiva Goldsman said classic characters would only return if the story demanded it.

“We tried to be very judicious,” Goldsman explained. “We tried not to - and we are fans - we tried not to be in fan service, we tried to be loving and respectful of what was available to us, and what the story asked for. And when those two things collided, as they do on a few occasions in season one, it brought us endless delight. And hopefully it will bring you endless delight too.”

Picard, which premieres new episodes weekly on Amazon Prime in the UK, has also brought back Trek actors Jeri Ryan as Seven of Nine and Jonathan Del Arco as Hugh.
