Appearing at The South Point Casino in Las Vegas, Debbie Reynolds took to the stage with her granddaughter, Billie Lourd and it wasn’t long before the conversation turned towards the galaxy far, far away.

According to Vegas Seven, the 82-year-old Hollywood star revealed that Billie Lourd and her mother, Carrie Fisher, had recently been busy filming ‘Star Wars VII’.

“Debbie mentioned that Carrie and Billie had been working on Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens,” they explained. And apparently, Reynolds mentioned the fact that they were filming with “Harrison Ford… and the other boychik.”

“It was probably the most tepid applause ever evoked by mention of a ‘Star Wars’ movie - say that to a room of fan boys with Princess Leia right there and the howling might cause permanent hearing loss.”

Of course, this isn’t the first time that Billie Lourd has been linked to the upcoming ‘Star Wars’ sequel and has been rumoured to appear in ‘The Force Awakens’ for some time. But could this rekindle earlier speculation of a ‘Star Wars’ flashback?

Back when Lourd was first linked to the movie, fans soon began to wonder whether she was chosen due to her resemblance to her mother and rumours quickly began to spread that the young actress was in fact playing a young Princess Leia during the saga’s first ever flashback.

Unfortunately, this is yet to be confirmed but it’s certainly a possibility.

After all, it’s likely that ‘The Force Awakens’ will shake things up when it comes to the galaxy far, far away and just because we’ve never seen a flashback in a ‘Star Wars’ film before, doesn’t mean we won’t in ‘Episode VII’.

Of course, there’s also the possibility that Lourd could be playing a minor character – maybe even a lesser-known Solo child. Either way, it looks as though her family connection has just landed her a part in the hottest film of the decade. And that’s got to be cause for celebration.

‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ will appear in cinemas on 18 December 2015.
