Fans expecting to catch their first proper glimpse of new ‘Star Wars’ actress Daisy Ridley in ‘The Inbetweeners 2’ will be disappointed – she’s not in it.

When the unknown was announced as being part of ‘Episode VII’, everyone quickly turned to IMDB to see her credits.

The main one was the Brit comedy sequel, in which she was due to play an unspecified role.

“We’ve cut her out of the film,” says Iain Morris, who created ‘The Inbetweeners’ with co-writer/director Damon Beesley. “She [was] in the opening of the film. We reshot the opening because the script didn’t work. We desperately wanted Daisy to come back and do it because she’s brilliant, really funny. But by that point she was doing ‘Star Wars’.”

“She wasn’t available because of ‘Star Wars’ contractual commitments,” says Beesley. “She wanted to do it…She’s brilliant and she’ll be a huge star.”

“We cast her before she got the role in ‘Star Wars’,” he adds.

Nevertheless, Ridley’s commitments in a galaxy far, far away means that she won’t showcase her skills alongside the boys from Rudge Park Comprehensive, who in the ‘Inbetweeners 2’ go on a gap year-style trip to Australia.

Morris and Beesley aren’t bitter. In fact, they already have some good ideas for a ‘Star Wars’ comedy movie, starring Boba Fett.

“It would be amazing,” says Morris. “It would be ‘[The] Odd Couple’ with a Wookiee and Boba Fett. And Boba Fett’s like, ‘I hate Wookiees!’”

You can not see Daisy Ridley when ‘The Inbetweeners 2’ is released on 6 August.
