Star Wars: Episode VII - Warwick Davis Confirms Role

It’s official – after months of insisting that he’d love to head back to the galaxy far, far away, Warwick Davis has been confirmed to return in ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’.

The 44-year-old British actor is most famous for appearing as loveable Ewok, Wicket in ‘Star Wars VI: Return of the Jedi’. And after helping the rebellion bring the mighty Galactic Empire to its knees, it looks as though everyone’s favourite cuddly freedom fighter will make an appearance in the upcoming ‘Star Wars’ sequel.

Appearing in a rather awesome YouTube video, Warwick Davis discusses the possibility of returning to the ‘Star Wars’ franchise. It’s a brilliantly tongue-in-cheek look at the man who starred in ‘Life’s Too Short’… and after a flashback to an interview with Producer Kathleen Kennedy, it’s revealed that he will return in ‘Star Wars VII’.

“Warwick Davis will return to that galaxy far, far away for Episode VII in 2015,” reads his very own title crawl. But while Warwick will return, does this mean we should expect more Ewoks in the ‘Star Wars’ sequels?

At this stage, there’s no guarantee that Warwick Davis will be playing an Ewok at all, let alone the Wicket W. Warrick from ‘Return of the Jedi’. Come to think of it, he’s been very vocal about his desire to pick up a lightsaber in the ‘Star Wars’ sequels.

Has J.J. finally given him his wish? It’s impossible to say. But I get the feeling that he’ll probably end up in yet-another costumed role. After all, he’s got an excellent track record within the ‘Star Wars’ universe, and with appearances in ‘Harry Potter’ and even ‘Doctor Who’, he’s the go to guy for costumed characters on the smaller side.

Of course, we’re also unclear as to when Warwick will be filming his scenes… assuming he hasn’t already. In fact, I can’t help thinking that the timing of this announcement has in some way been arranged to throw us off the scent.

Could Davis still have scenes left to film? It’s certainly possible, but I wonder whether he’s already paid a visit to Pinewood while we’ve been busy looking elsewhere. After all, J.J. is a master when it comes to movie-making misdirection.

Either way, it looks as though this ‘Star Wars’ legend will be returning to the galaxy far, far away. And if ever there was a cause for an Ewok celebration, this is it. Yub Nub!
