Steve Jobs Biopic Photo Shows Michael Fassbender as Apple Founder

A new image leaked from the set of Danny Boyle’s Steve Jobs biopic has revealed Michael Fassbender in character as the tech pioneer.

The image (above), which surfaced on Reddit overnight, shows a prop poster on the set with Fassbender as Jobs leaning on a NeXT Computer. The original image which inspired the prop poster is above right.

While Fassbender’s likeness to the former Apple CEO isn’t quite as striking as Ashton Kutcher’s was in 2013′s ‘Jobs’, we’re confident the Oscar-nominated star has the acting chops to pull it off.

NeXT was a rival computer enterprise founded by Jobs after he was ousted from Apple in 1985. They launched an innovative, Apple-challenging, personal computer in the early 90s before the firm was bought up his former company in 1997. The acquisition of NeXT for $427m brought Jobs back to the tech firm he co-founded ushering in the new world-conquering era of Apple we have today.

Boyle’s Aaron Sorkin-scripted biopic is said to focus on three key presentations of Steve Jobs career - the Macintosh computer in 1984, the NeXT in 1988, and the iMac in 1998 - and will dramatise the behind-the-scenes events of each product launch.

Christian Bale was originally attached to play Jobs in the long-gestating biopic that recently departed Sony Pictures before being picked up by Universal earlier this year. Bale eventually dropped out over scheduled issues.

Seth Rogen is playing Apple’s co-founder Steve Wozniak, with Kate Winslet as Jobs’ close friend and co-worker Joanna Hoffman.

Steve Jobs’ is scheduled for release in late 2015.
