Steven Spielberg 'Jurassic Park Hunter' Meme Fools Facebook Users

Since the advent of social media, the gullibility of the planet has been laid bare with countless hoaxes, but this latest, featuring Steven Spielberg, takes the cake.

In the vein of the many posts which lambast big game hunters, as they sit beaming with pride next to their latest kill, one hoaxster dropped a slightly puzzling image on Facebook last Sunday.

The post has now been shared well over 30,000 times, meme-maker Jay Branscomb appearing to have excelled himself.

The picture shows Spielberg on the set of ‘Jurassic Park’, grinning next to the movie’s famous sick triceratops, which without the puppeteers looks distinctly dead.

Beneath, he captioned: “Disgraceful photo of recreational hunter happily posing next to a Triceratops he just slaughtered. Please share so the world can name and shame this despicable man.”

Presumably, he then sat back to count the LOLs, but many thousands failed to engage their brains before posting indignant messages of disgust.

Of the 5000-plus comments, some lambasted poor Mr Spielberg for his pre-historic murder.

One user, called PenelopeRayzor Bachand, hurled abuse at Spielberg, calling him ‘a disgusting, inhumane p***k’.

“I’d love to see these hunters be stopped,” she added. “I think zoos are the best way to keep these innocent animals safe. A**holes like this piece of s**t are going into these beautiful animals HOME and killing them.

“Steven Spielberg I’m disappointed in you. I’m not watching any of your movies again ANIMAL KILLER.”

Later, when another user, Vincent Smith, was told that the man in the picture was in fact Steven Spielberg, the director of ‘Jurassic Park’, he replied: “I don’t care who he is, he should not have shot that animal.”

Branscomb has since posted a similar gag, with a crew-member snapped sitting atop the great white shark model from ‘Jaws’ during filming.

“Folks, we need your help identifying the vicious shark-killer shown posing with his illegal prey,” he wrote.

“Sharks are essential to the eco-system and their waters are protected off the coast of California. If you have any knowledge of this fiend’s identity or whereabouts, please contact authorities immediately.”
