Suicide Squad: True Blood's Joe Manganiello Up For Deathstroke

'True Blood' star Joe Manganiello is reportedly up for role of Deathstroke in David Ayer's upcoming DC Comics adaptation 'Suicide Squad'.

Cinema Blend cite a source “close to the production” who claims the star is the studio’s first choice, but that ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ lead Jason Clarke is also in contention.

"A source close to the production tells us that ‘Magic Mike’ co-star Joe Manganiello has ALL BUT locked up the part of Deathstroke," reads their report.

"The deal isn’t done yet. Jason Clarke is reportedly still in play, but our source says it is an almost certainty that Manganiello has the role."

Deathstroke, real name Slade Wilson, is a regular foe of Batman’s, but was recently a villain in ‘Arrow’ the Green Arrow TV series on the CW Network.

He was a popular character and should make for a great villain to pit against the titular team of supervillains given Black Ops missions by the government who have incarcerated them.

Should Manganiello take the role he’ll be facing off against Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang and Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg.

Jared Leto will also appear in the film as The Joker and Jesse Eisenberg has been rumoured to show up as Lex Luthor after his debut in next year’s ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’.

'Suicide Squad is set for release on 5 August 2016.
