Teen Wolf cast member Dylan O'Brien will not be present for the upcoming reunion movie.

He's known to fans of the drama series as Scott McCall's (Tyler Posey) childhood bestie Stiles Stilinski, who at one point became possessed by a demon.

Revealing to Variety why he won't be joining co-stars Posey, Holland Roden, Shelley Hennig, Crystal Reed, Colton Haynes, Dylan Sprayberry, JR Bourne and Linden Ashby for the feature-length continuation, O'Brien suggested it's been a "difficult" choice to make.

"It was a difficult decision. A lot went into it. The show couldn't be more dear to me. It was the first thing I ever did and so many people there are extremely dear to me. It was something I was trying to make work but it all happened very fast.

"We didn't really know that it was happening and they kind of just threw it at us a little bit, which is fine because we all love the show. We were trying to figure it out," he explained.

"Ultimately, I just decided it was left in a really good place for me and I still want to leave it there. I wish them well and I'm going to watch it the first night it comes out.

"I hope it f**king kicks ass, but I'm not going to be in it."

Arden Cho's character Kira Yukimura won't be involved either, with reports emerging (via Deadline) that the actress rejected a return to the role when Paramount offered her less money than three of her female colleagues. Paramount hasn't commented on the claims.

"I'm so proud of you Arden for fighting what you believe in and knowing your worth. I love you" and "You deserve more respect and half what the rest of what your actors are making is very very [wrong]," two of her fans tweeted last month.

The Teen Wolf movie will stream on Paramount+.
