The Amazing Spider-Man 2: Electro’s Mum Deleted Scene (Exclusive)

When you have an Oscar-winner in your cast, you should use them as much as possible, but when it came to Jamie Foxx in ’The Amazing Spider-Man 2’, it seems some of best stuff ended up on the cutting room floor.

In this exclusive deleted scene from the home entertainment release, we see a pivotal moment between Foxx’s character Max Dillon (soon to become the highly-charged villain Electro) and his sick mother.

In the run-up to the release, Foxx had talked the scene up as a key moment in his character’s rise to infamy, but it never made it to cinema screens, so it’s exciting to be able to finally see it in full. As an added bonus, the clip features one of Foxx’s best lines in the film.

Electro takes on Spider-Man

Max’s mother has forgotten his birthday and so he flips out after she doesn’t take the hint from him singing “Happy Birthday”.

“My voice is amazing!” Max snaps, “I should be singing hooks for famous rappers!”

Of course, Foxx DOES sing hooks for famous rappers in real life, having sung the “She take my money…” refrain in Kanye West’s ‘Gold Digger’. See what they did there?

It’s a shame this clip didn’t make the final film, as it gives another layer to Max’s despair, fleshing out the rise of Electro. Running at 142 minutes, ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ is already a little on the lengthy side, so it’s no surprise director Marc Webb ended up losing a lot of cool stuff in the edit suite.

The electrically-charged villain looks set to return in ‘Sinister Six’, the evil villain team-up movie coming from Sony in 2016, with ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 3’ slated for 2018.

'The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ is available now on Digital HD and on Blu-ray & DVD on 1 September.
