The Crow Remake Will Begin Filming This Spring

Producer of the on-again, off-again remake of the ‘The Crow’, Ed Pressman, has revealed that filming could begin as early as next year.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood News during the Abu Dhabi Film Festival, the producer, who also did the ‘94 original, claimed the hugely delayed reboot would begin its shoot in the springtime.

Pressman, who also produced ‘Wall Street’ and ‘American Psycho’, was at the Showbiz Expo to pick up a lifetime achievement award. He said, “It still has a big fan base even though it was so long ago,” Pressman went on to share, “But the generation today doesn’t even know ‘The Crow’.”

So will we see a more accessible character (and story) so a new audience can connect with it?

Directed by Alex Proyas, who later went on to helm ‘Dark City’ and ‘I, Robot’, he did a solid job of bringing the character to the big screen, which was a well-received action-fantasy film. The original starred Brandon Lee (son of Bruce), who tragically (and famously) died during the making of it after being shot and mortally wounded.

Over the years there have been a number of actors linked to playing the lead in the reboot, with Luke Evans (‘Dracula Untold’) widely regarded as the favourite to nab the part.

Regardless of the speculation over who will be in the new version of ‘The Crow’, Pressman confirmed that, as of yet, no one had been cast, so details on it remain scarce.

It’s still unclear whether this’ll be a straight update of the 1994 movie, or, as per the recent ‘Robocop’ reimagining, will tweak the story for modern, younger audiences to access it.
