You may have heard about a little known event called Secret Cinema. Well, if truth be told, it’s not as low-key as it once was, nor is it much of a secret anymore, but thanks to their latest endeavour, ‘Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back’ has re-entered the UK top ten.

The latest Secret Cinema is, unsurprisingly, all about ‘Star Wars’, and is showing the second film in the epic trilogy as their headliner. Each date will show the entire film after audiences have been transported to the George Lucas-created universe and witnessed the pre-film attractions on offer.

Taking place between 4 June and 27 September, (priced at £78 for adults and £52 for children), there will be, in all, 100 performances that will attracted tens of thousands of punters with the unique style of an event that immerses you in a galaxy far, far away…

And it’s not taken long for ‘Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back’ to make itself heard, as it has now broken back into the UK’s box office top ten, a whopping 35 years after its release, which is an impressive feat.

In Secret Cinema’s first week it’s seen the film re-enter the top ten, having attracted over 8,000 fans so far and looks set to stay there for the next couple of months if each venue continues to sell out.

Four days of shows saw it accumulate £304,115, placing it at number eight in the chart, ahead of Simon Pegg’s ‘Man Up’, which took  £141,170.

With ‘Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens’ due in cinemas this December, the build-up is very much underway, and this Secret Cinema event will likely get fans of the franchise even more excited about the seventh movie in the series.

‘Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens’ is in UK cinemas from 18 December.
