Luckily for us, we get way more seconds of this pivotal moment in the upcoming film, when Robert McCall (Washington) goes looking for a young girl (Chloe Grace Moretz) who’s been beaten up and co-erced into prostitution.

Wandering into the bar-based lair of the villains, McCall tries to buy Moretz’s freedom for $9800 only to be turned down. Refusing to take no for an answer, he comes up with an alternative – and much more violent – plan for extracting the information he needs.

Based on the US TV series starring Edward Woodward, which ran from 1985-1989, ‘The Equalizer’ is directed by Antoine Fuqua, who led Denzel to an Oscar in ‘Training Day’.

Cold and calculating – though for good reasons not bad – McCall is a man of clinical precision who can survey a room in order to figure out what he can use to defeat his enemies and how long it will take.

‘The Equalizer’, which also stars Bill Pullman and Marton Csokas, will hit screens on 26 September.
