The Guardians of the Galaxy Soundtrack Is Being Released On… CASSETTE TAPE?

Yes, you read that right. The chart-topping soundtrack to Marvel’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy' is being released on tape, but you'll need to be quick, as it's only going to be available in limited numbers.

The soundtrack, known as ‘Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol. 1’, will be released by Hollywood Records as a limited edition cassette tape on 17 November in North American independent music stores affiliated with the annual Record Store Day event.

The tape, which is packed with pop hits from the 1970s and 1980s including ‘Escape (The Pina Colada Song)’ and Blue Swede’s ‘Hooked on a Feeling’, will only be available while stocks lasts.

The soundtrack actually plays a key part of the film’s plot as it’s one of the few pieces of Earth property that the film’s hero Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) still owns from his childhood, and the new release faithfully reproduces the handwritten sleeve as seen in the film.

'Awesome Hits Vol. 1' hit the top of the Billboard 200 chart in the US earlier this year, and it's now second best-selling soundtrack ever in the US behind 'Frozen'.

This will be the first tape released the Disney Music Group since 2003. Looks like you may need to dig out your old ghetto-blasters from the loft sometime soon.
