The Guest: Dan Stevens Gets Tough In New Trailer And Poster (Exclusive)

You may know him best as Matthew Crawley from ITV’s ‘Downtown Abbey’, but you’ll never look at Dan Stevens the same way again after seeing his new film ‘The Guest’.

Directed by new horror darling Adam Wingard, ‘The Guest’ sees Dan playing the mysterious David, and as you can see from our exclusive trailer above, it’s a far cry from the stuffy world of ‘Downton’.

He plays the titular visitor, a former soldier who arrives at the family home of a fallen comrade to fulfill a promise. But all is not quite as it seems.

Stevens shows off his buff new physique in the latest trailer which sees the actor stripping off, shooting guns, and generally causing chaos. Dan told Graham Norton last year that he’d lost 30lbs after quitting the ITV period drama in a bid to break into the movies.

Stevens’ assault on Hollywood seems to paying off so far with roles in last year’s ‘Summer In February’ and the Wikileaks biopic ‘The Fifth Estate’ opposite Benedict Cumberbatch. He’ll also be seen later this year alongside Liam Neeson in ‘A Walk Among The Tombstones’, in the new Adam Sandler comedy ‘The Cobbler’, and as Sir Lancelot in ‘Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb’ with Ben Stiller.

’The Guest’ has been generating a fair bit of buzz amongst critics so far, but you can judge for yourself when the film opens on 5 September, 2014.
