The Hulk Won’t Appear In Guardians Of The Galaxy 2

‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ director James Gunn confirms that The Hulk won’t appear in the upcoming sci-fi comic book sequel.

Appearing on Facebook, the quirky Marvel director responded to fans questions about the upcoming sequel… and explained that The Hulk won’t be a part of it.

“There’s a subtitle after Galaxy isn’t there?” asked a fan. “Please tell me it’s Annihilation meaning that they’ll team up with the Hulk to fight Ultron who stored a copy of himself in the quinjet.”

“They will not team up with Hulk,” Gunn replied.

Of course, many comic book fans were hoping to see Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk appear alongside the Guardians… after all, with rumours of a ‘Planet Hulk’ movie, many assumed it would be only natural to see everyone’s favourite big, green rage monster stumble upon Peter Quill and the gang.

But it seems that’s not what James Gunn has planned.

One of the more popular fan theories, it seems that ‘Guardians of the Galaxy 2’ won’t in fact feature the Hulk. But rather interestingly, James Gunn didn’t refute the appearance of Ultron. And that’s already giving fans reason to speculate that Ultron may have survived the recent ‘Avengers’ movie, ready to take on the Guardians.

But will that really happen?

I can’t help thinking that Ultron is well and truly gone… at least, for the time being. To give Ultron such an easy ‘out’ after those rather powerful scenes between himself and The Vision would seem like a bit of a cop out. Put it this way – if Ultron does return, it shouldn’t be just a simple case of him having downloaded into another body. There needs to be more at stake for the nefarious Marvel forces to get him back online.

And with the likes of Thanos on the horizon, I can’t help thinking that any potential Ultron resurrection is going to be overlooked.

Either way, it looks as though the Hulk will be sitting out ‘Guardians of the Galaxy 2’. But will Bruce Banner ever get to team up with the rag-tag band of space cowboys? For now, we have to wait and see.

‘Guardians of the Galaxy 2’ heads to cinemas on 28 April 2017.
