The Inbetweeners Split Up

Sorry, Inbetweeners fans, but it’s bad news… Jay, Will, Neil and Simon are no more.

The foursome are done with shouting abuse at people at bus stops and delivering graphic sexual descriptions once and for all.

Speaking to The Sun, Simon Bird, who plays Will in the TV show turned mega-buck movie series, said: “There’s no third film. This is genuinely our last interview ever. Ever, ever, ever.”

Well, that sounds definitive.

Joe Thomas, who plays Simon, added: “We should take a moment - it’s like the fall of the Berlin Wall. Physically, unfortunately, we’re ageing. The body clock is ticking.

“We’ll never have another job like this. We’re all a bit similar in temperament - and we’re all a bit weird. I feel very content in the company of these three and that is quite a beautiful thing.

“In a way, that is why it’s sad.”

Bird went on: “It had to end at some point.”

Indeed it did, but the sobs of studio executives will likely be audible across the land, considering the sums both ‘The Inbetweeners Movie’ and ‘The Inbetweeners 2’ hauled in.

The first movie, with its modest £3.5 million budget, made a hefty £57.7 million, having the most successful opening weekend ever for a comedy movie in the UK, and staying at number one in the box office charts for four weeks.

The sequel, released in August this year, did slightly less well, but still made a sterling £40 million.

Joshing about the foursome’s future, Joe added: “None of us are on Facebook. We can start a book group instead – read a Jane Austen novel.”

A legion of ‘bus w**kers’ salute you, gentlemen.
