The Rock Confirms DC Superhero Role

Dwayne “The Rock” has long been rumoured to be playing Shazam in an upcoming adaptation of the DC Comics character.

But in a recent chat with Associated Press, the ‘Hercules’ actor suggested that he might actually be playing the villainous role in the movie, as nemesis Black Adam, after revealing that Adam is one of his favourite characters.

Black Adam first appeared in comic book form in 1945 and is an ancient Egyptian prince who was given powers by the same wizard who bestowed them on Shazam. Shazam is the superhero alter-ego of Billy Batson, a boy who can transform by uttering the magic word “Shazam”.

Johnson promised fans that they would be pleased with his portrayal (of whoever), saying, “I am putting my heart and soul and my bones into this role.”

It’s not yet known if Shazam will appear in ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice’, but it’s thought he might make an appearance in ‘Justice League’. He would likely have his own standalone film before then.

Keep your ears peeled for more updates – or maybe you’ll just have to wait and see The Rock in his black body suit with cloak when ‘Dawn Of Justice’ is released in March 2016.
