There Was A Cruel Intentions Cast Reunion And It Was Great

The cast of ‘Cruel Intentions’ reunited in Los Angeles last night and our inner 90s child squealed with joy.

Selma Blair, Reese Witherspoon, and Sarah Michelle Gellar were reunited at the opening of ‘The Unauthorized Musical Parody Of Cruel Intentions’ 16 years after after the release of the cult 90s teen drama, where they happily hugged and posed for photos.

The original film, which was an adaptation of ‘Les Liaisons dangereuses’ by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos (the same book that inspired ‘Dangerous Liaisons’), was a huge box office hit back in the tail end of the 90s, despite a mixed response from critics.

The sexy tale of backstabbing and revenge in an affluent New York prep school proved to be irresistible to teens of the era, and the film couldn’t be more 90s if it tried. Gellar, Blair, and Witherspoon star alongside Ryan Phillippe (who was dating Witherspoon at the time), Joshua Jackson, and Tara Reid, and the film has an amazing soundtrack featuring Blur, The Cardigans, Sneaker Pimps and more.

Two direct-to-DVD sequels followed, but none of the main cast would return.

The new musical based on the film is currently playing at LA’s Rockwell Table & Stage.
