Tomorrowland Concept Art Reveals The World Of Tomorrow

After Disney unveiled a rather awesome ‘Tomorrowland’ teaser trailer, it looks as though we get another glimpse at the world of tomorrow in this cool concept art.

The upcoming Disney film which stars George Clooney as a former boy genius and Britt Robertson as a budding scientist, takes us to a world where anything is possible. Based on the Disney theme land of the same name, ‘Tomorrowland’ gives us a glimpse of the future.

And in this new concept art, we get a sense of just how advanced Tomorrowland really is.

Appearing online at the newly-launched Tomorrowland viral site, these impressive images pull back the curtain on the enigmatic land of the future… and while it’s certainly spectacular it also looks a tad familiar.

The folks at SlashFilm point out that the cityscapes of Tomorrowland look an awful lot like the city of Xandar in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’. And I have to admit, I agree with them.

Of course, it’s not an exact replica… but the similarities should be obvious. Does this tell us anything about the design of Tomorrowland? Perhaps. After all, both of these fictional cities were created under the Disney umbrella.

Although the colour palettes are obviously different (and Xandar seems far busier than Tomorrowland), the ultra-sleek, ultra-futuristic look of both cities makes for an interesting comparison. And perhaps the designers share a love of sleek, curved designs.

“The Tomorrowland concept art itself, it’s very whimsical,” says SlashFilm. “Very flowing. There are curves, muted colors.” They go on to point out that the scenes we’ve seen from the film so far are a lot more populated… and with that interesting curved geometry, it seems to reflect the theme park rides on which the film is based.

Take a look for yourself in the image below:

Either way, it looks as though ‘Tomorrowland’ lives up to the promise of being Hogwarts for Science… and it looks rather stunning in the process.

Of course, there’s a lot more to ‘Tomorrowland’ than a fancy-looking city… and with George Clooney heading back to the enigmatic place with a new friend in tow, it looks as though they might find themselves changing the world forever.

Starring George Clooney as Frank Walker and Britt Robertson as Casey newton, they’re joined by Raffey Cassidy, Tim McGraw, Judy Greer and even Hugh Laurie as the enigmatic scientist, David Nix.

But will they find what they’re looking for in Tomorrowland? We’ll have to wait and see.

‘Tomorrowland’ heads to cinemas on 22 May 2015.
