Transformers 5 Coming In 2017, Cinematic Universe Confirmed

Hasbro have confirmed that ‘Transformers 5’ is planned for 2017, while it’s also been revealed that a Transformers cinematic universe is being outlined too.

Brian Goldner, the CEO over at Hasbro, confirmed these details during a company conference call, while he also declared that Oscar-winning screenwriter Akiva Goldsman has been placed in control of leading a group of writers for future instalments too.

“Our plan with the studio and filmmakers you may have heard some writers being hired and we have in fact brought in Akiva Goldsman to lead a group of writers to really create a strategic plan around ‘Transformers’,” Goldner confirmed, according to Comic Book.

“We think there are any number of stories to be told from the brand that has been around for 30 years with amazing canon and mythology. We would expect the sequel to the ‘Transformers’ movie [‘Transformers: Age Of Extinction’] to happen in 2017,” he continued.

It’s no surprise that Paramount and Hasbro have big plans for the ‘Transformers’ franchise. The last instalment, ‘Transformers: Age Of Extinction’, took in a massive $1.091 billion at the box office, making it the most successful film of 2014.

In total the four films, each of which have been directed by Michael Bay, have made $3.7 billion, despite the fact that they have been met with scathing reviews along the way.

Michael Bay isn’t expected to return in the director’s chair for the fifth ‘Transformers’ film, while it’s not known if Mark Wahlberg will reprise his role as Cade Yeager too.
