Vin Diesel Rocks Stilts At Guardians Of The Galaxy Premiere

The UK premiere of Marvel’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ was one of the weirdest Leicester Square events of recent memory thanks in no small part to Vin Diesel.

The 47-year-old actor turned up on the blue carpet wearing spring-loaded stilts and a t-shirt emblazoned with “I am Groot”. He signed autographs, posed for selfies, and generally goofed around much to the delight of the gathered fans.

Diesel lends his voice to Groot - a sentient tree creature - in the sci-fi flick which opens in the UK next week. But he only has one line - “I am Groot” - which he repeats throughout the film.

Amazingly, an actor on stilts wasn’t the most unusual thing to happen at last night’s gala event either, as director James Gunn proved he was game for a laugh too by posing for photos with a live raccoon.

The raccoon, named Oreo, was used as a visual reference by the film-makers to create Rocket Raccoon, a gun-toting genetically modified bounty hunter that provides much of the comic relief in the film.

Other attendees to the premiere included Chris Hemsworth, taking a break from shooting ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ to support his Marvel stablemates, and Mark Hamill, who is in the midst of shooting ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ at Pinewood Studios.

The actor who will play an aged Luke Skywalker in JJ Abrams’ sequel remained tight-lipped about the much-anticipated film, posing with his hands clasped over his mouth.
