Will Jason Momoa Star In Post-Apocalyptic Thriller The Bad Batch?

Large pinch of salt at the ready, as we’re about to indulge in some heavy speculation - but we can’t help but wonder whether Jason Momoa could potentially be set to appear in upcoming dystopian sci-fi movie ‘The Bad Batch.’

The film’s producer, Megan Ellison of Annapurna Pictures (whose hugely impressive CV includes ‘The Master,’ ‘Spring Breakers,’ ‘Zero Dark Thirty,’ ‘Her,’ ‘American Hustle,’ ‘Foxcatcher,’ and the upcoming ‘Terminator: Genisys’)tweeted this just yesterday:

So, no mention of Mr Momoa anywhere - but take another look at the muscular and distinctively tattooed forearm holding up the screenplay in the picture above, and the slither of long hair and beard on the edge of the frame. There’s no mistaking that’s the former ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘Conan the Barbarian’ star.

Are we jumping to conclusions saying this means Momoa’s in ‘The Bad Batch?’ Absolutely - but just listen to this premise and tell us it’s not something you could see him growling up a storm in.

Speaking to Filmlinc last year, Amirpour described her film as “a cannibal love story set in a post apocalyptic Texan wasteland. There’s going to be muscle men and amputees set against a desert backdrop.

"I want to shoot anamorphic color and have a look and feel of the ’80s and ’90s with an eclectic soundtrack that’s part techno, part Western, and part ’90s pop.

"It’s my ‘Mad Max’ meets ‘Gummo.’ It’s going to be really weird and romantic and also very violent.”

Amirpour reportedly also tells Filmmaker magazine the film centres on “A muscled cannibal breaks the rule ‘don’t play with your food. It’s ‘Road Warrior’ meets ‘Pretty in Pink’ with a dope soundtrack.”

Now, that sounds utterly deranged and potentially awesome - and, as such, a perfect fit for Jason Momoa, don’t you think?

Well, regardless of whether he turns out to be part of ‘The Bad Batch,’ we should be next seeing Momoa in ‘Sugar Mountain’ later this year - before he makes his eagerly-anticipated debut as Aquaman in 2016’s ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.’

Our thanks to Arrow in the Head for bringing this to our attention.
