Will Mark Strong’s Sinestro Return For Justice League?

Mark Strong has admitted that he doesn’t think he’ll be asked back to play ‘Green Lantern’s’ Sinestro in DC’s burgeoning cinematic universe.

Strong was quizzed by MTV as he promoted the upcoming release of ‘Kingsman’ on DVD. And he believes that his version of Sinestro was very much part of the 2011 film’s world, and he would be surprised to be involved again.

“We, I think the Sinestro I did pretty much belongs to the world of the one, you know, we created, “ Strong explained. “And with a reboot I think it has to be a fresh broom, doesn’t it?”

Strong continued, “So I’m sure they’ll go for a whole other look and whole other group of actors. I’d be very surprised if they imported my Sinestro from our one.”

Despite the mixed reviews and poor box office return of ‘Green Lantern’, Strong admitted that he was still extremely proud of the film, which was directed by ‘Casino Royale’ and ‘Goldeneye’s’ Martin Campbell and led by Ryan Reynolds.

“I was really proud of that one and I think we really did it justice to the way he is in the comics,” Strong explained.

While the 2011 blockbuster was such a disaster Warner Bros. and DC decided to reboot the entire universe to rival Marvel, Mark Strong was in fact one of the very few bright sparks of the film. And it’s no surprise that he was happy with his intense and charismatic portrayal as the villain.

Meanwhile, DC and Warner Bros. are yet to announce who will star opposite Henry Cavill’s Superman, Ben Affleck’s Batman, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, Ezra Miller’s The Flash and Jason Momoa’s Aquaman, as the new Green Lantern.

In fact, we’re still not sure if Sinestro, who was both Hal Jordan’s mentor and ultimately his foe, will be incorporated into the new DC cinematic universe. All that we do know that the Green Lantern is set to pop up in the ‘Justice League Part One’ in 2017 ahead of his latest origin story on June 19, 2020.
