Wonder Woman Solo Movie Shooting This Autumn

Warner Bros/DC’s ‘Wonder Woman’ will go into production this coming autumn, it has been announced.

Deadline report that the long-awaited superhero movie, set to star Gal Gadot in the title role with Michelle MacLaren directing, will shoot “in the fall,” although no other details are revealed.

This news was mentioned as an aside in a brief report on Gadot’s casting in ‘Keeping Up With The Joneses,’ a new comedy shooting this April with Zach Galifianakis, Isla Fisher and Jon Hamm, for director Greg Motolla (‘Superbad,’ ‘Adventureland,’ ‘Paul’).

We can’t help but note Gadot - set to become the first big screen Diana Prince - has been cast in this film as a character named Diana Jones. Coincidence…? Well yes, of course it is, but what can we say, we notice these things.

Gadot - a former model, best known to date for her performances in the fifth and sixth ‘Fast and Furious’ movies - will become the first live action actress to portray the DC superheroine on the big screen in the upcoming ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.’

While Lynda Carter memorably brought the character to life in the 1970s TV series, Wonder Woman has astonishingly only appeared in one theatrically-released motion picture to date: 2014’s ‘The Lego Movie,’ in which Cobie Smulders provided the voice.

No further cast members nor plot details have been confirmed yet for ‘Wonder Woman,’ but it has been reported that the film will be a 1920s-set prequel. Jason Fuchs will provide the screenplay, whilst Zack Snyder, Deborah Snyder, Richard Suckle and Charles Roven produce.

It will be the first major feature film from director Michelle MacLaren, a prolific TV director whose impressive CV includes ‘The X-Files,’ ‘Game of Thrones,’ ‘The Walking Dead,’ plus ‘Breaking Bad’ and its recent spin-off series ‘Better Call Saul.’

'Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice' opens on 25 March 2016. Later, 'Wonder Woman' hits cinemas in June 2017, before Gadot takes the role a third time in that November's 'Justice League: Part 1.'
