X-Men: Apocalypse Will Feature Caliban

It looks as though another classic mutant will be joining ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’… and this time, it’s one of the four horsemen – Caliban.

It’s no secret that ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ will be getting plenty of new faces – including the reappearance of some of our favourite X-Men. Cyclops, Jean Grey, Storm and even Angel will be back… and it seems they’re also bringing some new mutants into the fray.

And they may not be quite so friendly.

Appearing on Instagram, director Bryan Singer dropped yet-another ‘X-Men’ set photo… and it reveals that Caliban will be appearing in the upcoming ‘Apocalypse’.

But how will he fit into the already rather ambitious movie?

‘X-Men’ comic book fans will no doubt recognise Caliban as one of Apocalypse’s four horsemen – specifically embodying Death. Using the power to track and identify other mutants, he’s a rather formidable force in Apocalypse’s grand plan… and that might be a good indication of how Caliban will fit into the upcoming movie.

“For a while Caliban was known as Hellhound, but was later officially announced as Death, Archangel’s replacement in Apocalypse’s Horsemen,” explains Comic Vine. “He would use his enhanced senses and strength to locate more mutants for Apocalypse, and his personal anger and rage to punish his enemies.”

But will this be Caliban’s role in ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’?

Well, we already know that Angel (or perhaps Archangel) will be making an appearance in the form of former-Eastenders actor, Ben Hardy. But will either of them end up being one of Apocalypse’s heralds?

Although most of the ‘X-Men’ movies have been based on events from the comic books, it’s no secret that director Bryan Singer rarely sticks to the source material. Of course, that’s not necessarily a bad thing – after all, it keeps die-hard fans from guessing what will happen next.

So for now, we’ll have to wait and see.

‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ heads to cinemas on 19 May 2016.
