Bryan Singer Confirmed For X-Men: Apocalypse

Younger versions of Cyclops, Storm and Jean Grey will join James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and Hugh Jackman in 2016’s ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’.

The news is confirmed by a synopsis of sorts forming part of Deadline’s report confirming that ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ director Bryan Singer would return for his fourth mutant movie.

The inclusion of younger versions of the characters played previously by James Marsden (Cyclops), Halle Berry (Storm) and Famke Janssen (Jean Grey) had been reported before when Singer spoke of wanting to tell the story of how the X-Men come together.

Deadline’s sort-of synopsis reads: “‘Apocalypse’ takes place a decade after ‘Days of Future Past’ and is a seamless next step in the story. The altering of time has unleashed a new and uniquely powerful enemy.

"Charles (McAvoy), Erik/Magneto (Fassbender), Raven/Mystique (Lawrence), Wolverine (Jackman) and Hank/Beast (Nicholas Hoult) are joined by young Cyclops, Storm, Jean and others as the X-Men must fight their most formidable foe yet: an ancient unrelenting force determined to cause an apocalypse unlike any in human history."

Deadline also wonder whether ‘Apocalypse’ will mark the debut of Channing Tatum as Remy LeBeau, aka fan-favourite Gambit. News of his arrival to the franchise broke back in May.

Simon Kinberg confirmed to Yahoo that classic X-Men characters could return for ‘Apocalypse’, albeit with new actors taking on the roles, when he answered your fan questions earlier this week.

"If we wanted to include Storm, Jean [Grey], and Scott [Summers AKA Cyclops] in ‘Apocalypse’, then yeah, we would have to recast them because it takes place a good 20 years before the events of ‘X-Men 1’".

'X-Men: Apocaylpse' is being written by Michael Dougherty, Dan Harris and Simon Kinberg, and will be released on 19 May 2016.
