X-Men: Days of Future Past: How They Gave Quicksilver Super-Speed

This Summer’s ‘X-Men’ installment was a huge hit with critics and audiences, so much so that it’s now the franchise’s highest-grossing entry ever.

It blended the classic X-Men of old with the new mutants introduced in ‘X-Men: First Class’ thanks to its time-travelling central conceit which saw Wolverine being sent back in time to save the future.

As well as bringing all your old favourite heroes back, it also found time to introduce some new ones, including the incredible Quicksilver portrayed by Evan Peters, who was universally acknowledged as one of the film’s highlights.

In this new clip from the forthcoming DVD, Blu-ray, and digital release of the film, the filmmakers reveal how they filmed Quicksilver’s stand out scene.

The super-quick mutant is helping Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) and Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) spring Magneto (Michael Fassbender) from a high-security prison deep below the Pentagon, when they get surprised by guards.

Quicksilver calmly pops on his walkman and uses his superpowers to set things straight in order to help them escape.
