Sure, if you're signed up for both Netflix and Amazon Prime Video – the dynamic duo – then there's a whole host of telly treats at your fingertips.

All the same, there are still some stone-cold classics we can't stream for free (well, free-ish, after membership fees) on either service.

Get working on this lot, guys...

1. South Park

You guys, seriously, South Park needs to find its way to streaming. (Currently, only the lucky Yanks can watch full episodes on the official South Park Studios site.)

2. Game of Thrones

To paraphrase Tyrion, if you're looking for Game of Thrones then you've come to the wrong place.

Winter is here and there's no new GoT till the summer but anyone hoping to binge-watch all six previous seasons is bang outta luck.

3. X-Men: The Animated Series

Y'know what really stings about this one? X-Men – we're talking the classic '90s variant – was on Netflix before, but disappeared in January 2015.

4. The West Wing

Only one of the most-loved shows of all time. Joshua Malina (he played Will Bailey) is currently doing an episode-by-episode podcast series featuring all his co-stars, but if you want to get up to speed before each episode, you'll have to spring some £££.

5. The Sopranos

Another legendary show, the one that arguably kickstarted the current "golden age of television". But it's not for you, pauper.

6. The Wire

How can we possibly be expected to keep up with sophisticated dinner-table chat without dropping references to Stringer Bell and Omar? We can't, yet we have to, because without paying, you don't get The Wire.

7. The Simpsons

600 episodes and growing... Just imagine the binge-watch. But it's not to be, with The Simpsons still free-to-stream precisely nowhere. (Annoyed Grunt.)

8. Friends

They won't be there for you. No Friends on streaming, so just as well Comedy Central in the UK airs all 10 seasons pretty much on a loop, like the E4 of old.

9. Lois & Clark: the New Adventures of Superman

Four seasons of pure '90s. Dean Cain and Teri Hatcher fighting hammy villains and their feelings for each other in arguably (or should that be inarguably?) the best TV outing for the Man of Steel. We want it now!

10. Doctor Who – classic era

You can while away the timey-wimey by binge-watching new Who – that's anything post-2005, beginning with the Christopher Eccleston era.

But if you're looking to go Paul McGann or earlier – a touch of Tom Baker, a pinch of Pertwee, a taste of Troughton – then you'll have to go back in time to before 2013, when those episodes were removed from Netflix.

11. Terrahawks

"Stay on this channel, this is an emergency!" – we're happy to declare a state of crisis given that the underrated Terrahawks ain't available to stream anywhere. At least you can get the rest of Gerry Anderson's oeuvre to buy and download on Amazon.

12. Sister, Sister

Never knew how much we missed it till we couldn't stream this classic '90s sitcom. We need Tia and Tamera back in our lives.

13. Dawson's Creek

♫ We don't wanna wait, for Dawson's Creek to be on streaming... ♫

Both Netflix and Amazon are seriously lacking some teen angst right now. The OC – very much the Dawson's equivalent for Noughties kids – is similarly absent. California, where you gone?

14. Sliders

We so badly want to rewatch this classic bit of '90s sci-fi silliness. Well, at least the first two seasons, before they killed off Wade and Arturo and turned Jerry O'Connell into Robert Floyd. Not even Rembrandt could make us revisit season five again.

15. Will & Grace

Will & Grace is coming back! What's that? You want to brush up on the old episodes? Well, ya can't. They're streaming precisely nowhere. Sorry, honey.

16. Kenan & Kel

WHHHHHY is Kenan & Kel not on streaming yet? At least their big-screen outing Good Burger is available on Netflix. But we'll be keeping the orange soda on ice till the real deal shows up.
