Adam Woodyatt is set to make £500,000 after landing a role in 'My Fair Lady'.

The 54-year-old actor - who is best known for playing Ian Beale in 'EastEnders' - has signed up for a lengthy run in the stage production, and it is estimated he will bring in up to £3,500 per show over the course of the 158-show run, depending on ticket sales.

A source told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: “Adam’s a big-name so there’s no reason ticket sales won’t be buoyant.

“It’s a good deal for him. Theatre work’s hard but rewarding — and a lot more fun than the day-to-day slog of filming a soap.

“If the tour goes well he could become a stage star.”

Adam - who left 'EastEnders' in 2020 after 35 years - will star as dustman Alfred, the father of lead character Eliza Doolittle, with Charlotte Kennedy playing his daughter and Lesley Garrett also part of the cast.

The show will debut in London's West End before embarking on a UK tour and the soap legend couldn't be happier about his new job.

He wrote on Instagram: "The cat is finally out of the bag…

"Can’t tell you how thrilled I am to be going on tour with @myfairladyuk and to be playing #AlfredPDoolittle (sic)"

Adam recently admitted he hasn't "got a clue" what the future holds for him, but suggested he wouldn't be returning to 'EastEnders'.

He said: "I'm quite happy doing what I’m doing. I haven't got a clue what’s going to happen.

"The character evolved. If you think back in the 80s, he was a spotty, teenage kid. He was getting bullied at school, his dad wanted him to do boxing.

"It's been a very, very long journey. But don't get me wrong, I don't always think that some of the changes were right.

"Maybe they should've chosen other directions to go but they weren't my decisions. They were stuff the bosses chose.

"Did it make Ian unpopular? Yeah, at times. He was quite forthright and quite rude to everyone, even people he loved.

"He claimed to be a great father but actually he wasn't. He was an absolute narcissist. Some would say a sociopath. But he was very misunderstood. Mostly, his heart was in the right place. He just got things wrong."
