Adam Woodyatt and Simon Gregson set for drag makeovers in 'Queen for the Night'

Soap stars and I'm A Celeb campmates Adam Woodyatt and Simon Gregson are set to take on a new challenge together as they get drag makeovers in an ITV contest.

Former EastEnders actor Woodyatt who is best known for his long-running role as Ian Beale, and Gregson who plays Steve McDonald in Coronation Street are part of a line-up of celebrities taking on Queen for the Night where they'll compete in a series of challenges similar to Drag Race.

The soap favourites, who recently featured as castle campmates in I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! will also be going up against Mr Motivator, Love Island's Chris Hughes, Union J singer George Shelley, and England rubgy player Joe Marler.

Queen for the Night is set to be hosted by drag superfan Lorraine Kelly and will include a judging panel of Spice Girl Mel C, comedian Rob Beckett, drag artist Courtney Act and Everybody's Talking About Jamie star Layton Williams.

Each celebrity will get an experienced drag mentor to help with their transformation, the art of walking in heels and mastering a talent - whether it be singing, dancing, lip syncing, impressions, comedy or "dragic" (drag magic).

The line-up of drag mentors is equally as starry, with Blu Hydrangea, Kitty Scott-Claus, La Voix, Myra DuBois, Asttina Mandella and Margo Marshall all taking part.

Host Kelly said: "I’m so excited to be hosting this show. I am a huge fan of drag and can not wait to see a host of well known stars embrace this uniquely wonderful and uplifting skill. It's a show that will have humour, warmth and above all lots and lots of glamour, I can’t wait to get started."

Judge Beckett, who previously had his own drag makeover with friend and fellow comedian Romesh Ranganathan, said: "I know just how hard this is after attempting drag myself with my mate Romesh. I love drag, I think it's such an underappreciated art-form.

"The celebrities will find out that it's more than just putting on makeup and heels, there is such a skill to it and when done right is such a joy to watch. Will I be tempted to pop on the heels one more time? Who knows….maybe!"

The one-off special show will air on ITV later this year.
