Adrian Chiles "broke wind very loudly" the first time he attempted a lift on 'Strictly Come Dancing'.

The 54-year-old presenter - who admitted he has never been a good dancer - will be seen testing his ballroom skills on the BBC show's Christmas Day (25.12.21) special, and he has opened up on one very embarrassing moment training with his pro partner Jowita Przystal.

Writing for The Sun newspaper, he said: "Given my significant weight advantage, this was the one bit I was confident about.

"Such was my enthusiasm, the first time I executed the lfit I'm afraid I inadvertently broke wind very loudly.

"I'd eaten breakfast too quickly. Being a pro, she pretended not to notice."

As well as his apparent lack of talent as a dancer, Adrian has also always been apprehensive about taking part in 'Strictly' because of the glitzy outfits, but he's happy with his ensemble for the Christmas special, where he'll perform the American Smooth to Otis Redding's 'White Christmas'.

He added: "I always said that, apart from the dancing itself, I could never do 'Strictly' because of the outfits - sequins and fake tan aren't my style.

"The good news was that the fake tans weren't compulsory and my outfit didn't feature sequins.

"It did, however, feature a dancing shirt, which you kind of had to step into, like a babygrow. This stops it riding up. It also makes going to the toilet quite an operation, trust me."

Meanwhile, Adrian - who has a deep appreciation for the professionals after spending time learning the craft - refused to gives any hints about his performance as he competes with the likes of Fred Sirieix, Anne-Marrie and Mel Giedroyc.

He teased: "As for whether I walk tall off the dance floor or slink off in shame like a wounded silverback, you'll have to watch."
