Agents of SHIELD paid a sweet tribute to Bill Paxton

Marvel's Agents of SHIELD paid a subtle tribute to Bill Paxton in its latest episode.

Yesterday's (April 25) episode in the US saw Sunil Bakshi's talk show feature an 'In Memoriam' scroll on screen that called Jack Garrett an "American hero".

Paxton played the HYDRA agent in Agents of SHIELD's first season. He was responsible for training Grant Ward (Brett Dalton) in the ways of HYDRA, leading to the season one bombshell that Ward was a baddie.

The tribute to the late actor met the approval of Agent Coulson himself, Clark Gregg.

Paxton sadly passed away in February at the age of 61, with his family revealing that he died from complications during surgery.

"A loving husband and father, Bill began his career in Hollywood working on films in the art department and went on to have an illustrious career spanning four decades as a beloved and prolific actor and filmmaker," a statement read.

"Bill's passion for the arts was felt by all who knew him, and his warmth and tireless energy were undeniable."

Titanic director James Cameron was among the celebrities to pay tribute to the late actor following his death. "The world is a lesser place for his passing, and I will profoundly miss him," he wrote in a statement.

Agents of SHIELD airs on ABC in the US and E4 in the UK.
